A group of state lawmakers and activists proposed amending Arizona’s Constitution Thursday to include the right to vote.
The “ Arizona Voters of Bill Of Rights” would include the ability to register to vote unhindered, equal access to the ballot and a guarantee that every vote is counted.
“What we’ve seen and what we’ve heard is gimmicks to make it harder to make it harder to pass ballot initiatives and electeds not listening to the voice of their voters,” said House Democrat Reginald Bolding, the main sponsor of the resolution.
Arizona is the only state that does not include explicit language granting the right to vote in its constitution.
