Parents universally know that there are moments in raising a child when you get desperate. You don’t know what to do and you just start grasping at straws — anything that will work.
For example, The Show's Lauren Gilger found out that singing “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift in the car will always — guaranteed — stop her son from crying.
These are what Hillary Frank calls "weird parenting wins." Frank is the creator of the popular parenting podcast " The Longest Shortest Time" and her new book is called " Weird Parenting Wins: Bathtub Dining, Family Screams, and Other Hacks from the Parenting Trenches."
In it, she has gathered parenting advice, not from experts or parenting gurus, but from parents themselves — and it can sometimes get really weird.
The Show spoke with Hillary Frank about the new book and began with one of her favorite parenting wins in the collection.
