If you’re aware of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), it’s probably because you’ve seen the initials at the beginning of movie trailers. As in, "the following preview has been approved by the Motion Picture Association of America."
At its core, the MPAA’s mission is to be the trade association representing the nation’s major film studios.
Up to this point, those studios have been the legacy businesses like Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros. That's changes as of this month as Netflix is welcomed in by the MPAA.
