It’s breeding season for the once-endangered bald eagle, and a nest near Lake Pleasant has been such a successful site, the Arizona Game and Fish Department set up a web cam to view it.
A female recently laid two eggs with a new partner after he ousted her former partner.
“Eagle cam has been a real soap opera this year. Unfortunately, because the male is new and not very experienced, he wasn't doing his full duty in protecting the nest when the female went to go hunt for herself,” said Jeff Meyers, a watchable wildlife program coordinator at the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
The eagles’ first egg was destroyed by ravens and the other by a ringtail cat. But the department is still hopeful it will see a new fledgling.
