The company behind Caesars and Harrah’s casinos has picked Scottsdale to open its first non-casino hotel in the United States.

Caesars plans to break ground later this year north of Scottsdale Fashion Square at North Goldwater Boulevard and East Highland Avenue.

The 11-story glass hotel will have 266 rooms, a first-floor bar, restaurant, and coffee shop. The seventh floor will feature a rooftop bar and pool.

“Caesars Republic Scottsdale represents the introduction of a new world-class brand and further progress on our strategy to expand our non-gaming business into premier destinations,” said Mark Frissora, president and CEO of Caesars Entertainment, in a prepared statement.

Caesars Republic Scottsdale is expected to open in 2021. Last year the company announced plans to build a non-gaming Caesars Palace resort in Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico.
