As flu season continues in Arizona, the state health department reports there have been 8,000 confirmed cases statewide.
Jessica Rigler with the Arizona Department of Health Services said while the numbers are down compared to last year’s record breaking number of flu cases, the season is not over yet.
"In Arizona, we’re actually seeing a higher number people visiting the ER associated with flu compared to the rest of the country," Rigler said. "So we’re not out of the woods yet."
Rigler added that there is one bright spot: no reported child deaths so far this flu season.
