Ducey Issues Executive Order To Protect Arizonans With Disabilities

Ariizona Gov. Doug Ducey has issued an executive order aimed at stopping abuse and neglect of people with disabilities.

The governor’s executive order instructs three state agencies involved in health care to come up with protocols to strengthen protections for those with disabilities.

That population is three times more likely to be victims of violent crime, according to federal numbers.

The order specifically requires the state to develop training and oversight for state contractors involved in residential homes that serve those with intellectual disabilities.

On Tuesday, Ducey asked Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich to investigate possible criminal activity by Hacienda HealthCare, where it was recently discovered a longtime patient had been raped and impregnated.
