Arizona Rep. Jennifer Longdon Angered, Not Surprised By Hacienda HealthCare Abuse

One of the central voices in the aftermath of the Hacienda HealthCare tragedy has been Democratic Rep. Jennifer Longdon. She was about to start her first term in office when news broke about the birth of this baby boy at Hacienda HealthCare. And it hit home.

Longdon was shot in 2004 in a random drive-by shooting that left her paralyzed. It changed the course of her life. She went from successful business woman to losing her health insurance and struggling to stay afloat.

She has been an advocate for disability rights ever since. And, when the Hacienda story came to light, she knew she had to take action.

The Show met her Wednesday in the members lounge of the Arizona House of Representatives as she was in between votes, and we began by talking about her initial reaction to the Hacienda case. Unlike most of us, Longdon was angry but not surprised.
