Arizona House: Gun Owners Can Keep Their Firearms Loaded On School Grounds

The Arizona House of Representatives has passed new legislation that would allow gun owners to keep their firearms loaded when entering school grounds.

Republican Rep. Bret Roberts said the legislation upholds rights for gun owners.

“The intended purpose of this bill is to not make criminals out of law-abiding citizens that choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights.”

But Democratic Rep. Diego Rodriguez argued the bill is a partisan waste of time.

“This bill isn’t anything more than just an homage to people who like guns. There’s no compelling need for this bill. The only compelling need that’s behind this bill is the need to score a political win.”

The bill, House Bill 2693, passed on party lines and now moves to the state Senate.
