All Three Arizona Universities Receive 'Greenlight' On Free Speech

All of Arizona’s three major public universities have been given a “greenlight” by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education — or FIRE — for their policies on free speech.

That means Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and, now, Northern Arizona University all have policies on the books that FIRE says do not restrict free speech on campus.

No other state in the country has earned the greenlight for all their major universities, but a greenlight from FIRE only has to do with the policies that are on the books, not necessarily the policies as they are enacted.

Laura Beltz is an attorney with FIRE and The Show spoke with her more about this.
