Health Care And Construction Jobs Still Growing In Arizona

Jobs in the construction and health care sectors are continuing to grow. That’s according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

ASU economics professor Dennis Hoffman says the 7.5 percent growth over the year in the health care sector has a lot to do with retiring baby boomer and the “tremendous demand for health care services to deal with the needs of the elderly population.”

Similar to health care, demand for construction jobs in Arizona is great. But Hoffman says that demand is not being met in part because there’s not enough workers who can prove they are U.S. citizens.

“We are aggressively enforcing measures like E-Verify that limit the number of undocumented workers in the state,” he said.

Despite that, Hoffman says he is optimistic that there will be enough workers.
