The possibility of universal licensing is moving along in the Arizona Legislature. The idea is to grant occupational licenses to new residents who hold a comparable license from out of state. The bill would require that an individual be licensed in at least one other state and is good standing for at least a year.
The bill’s sponsor is Republican Rep. Warren Petersen.
"This is a really great opportunity for us as a body to send a really good message that Arizona is open for business, that we would love to have these qualified workers come to Arizona and make Arizona their home," Petersen said.
An applicant would still have to pass a background check and fingerprinting, as well as pay any licensing fees.
