BLM Finalizes Impact Study On Proposed Goodyear Road To Mobile

The federal Bureau of Land Management has released the final environmental impactstudy looking at a proposed road connecting two parts of southern Goodyear.

The city proposed a two-lane parkway connecting the community of Mobile to the rest of Goodyear, which annexed the area in 2007.

Mobile is directly west of Maricopa and east of the Sonoran Desert National Monument.

About 10 miles of the so-called Sonoran Valley Parkway would be on federal land.

The final, suggested route avoids a historically significant homestead and stagecoach trail site, and it minimizes impacts to a nearby ancient Hohokam food site.

The BLM said in a statement the project would expand local transportation infrastructure and support emergency services in the fast-growing area.
