Why Is That Phoenix Street Closed? New Map Has Answers

People who drive around Phoenix have a new way to access near real-time information about road closures and restrictions.

Earlier this month, the Street Transportation Department launched an interactive map that can be viewed on desktop and mobile devices. It shows current and planned major street restrictions and closures.

Popup windows show the dates and what type of work is being done. For example, a special event, utility work or street transportation work which could include paving, repairs and construction.

While you can’t enter directions to get details for a specific route, you can enter an address and check out nearby restrictions and closures.

The map, which replaces the city’s weekly updates, will be updated in near real-time to show the most current information.

The city also has a street maintenance map where people can provide input on streets that should be included in pavement maintenance work for fiscal years 2021 through 2023.  People can also share input by emailing comments to [email protected].
