Customs and Border Protection announced it is shifting officers from its Nogales crossing point to other regions along the border to assist with a surge in migration.
The Trump administration has ordered 750 CBP officers shift duties and help Border Patrol agents grappling with more migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border.
CBP said to do that, it could no longer process commercial trucks at its Mariposa crossing in Nogales on Sundays.
Mexico is Arizona's number one trade partner, with produce among the top imports. Because of this, businesses and Arizona U.S. Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally warned the move will harm local and national economies.
In a joint statement, the senators implored President Trump to look for other options.
