'You Can't Just Be A Collection Of Trends:' Do Cities Do A Good Enough Job Marketing What Makes Them Unique?

Is it getting harder  to tell Phoenix from Philadelphia, or Houston, or Seattle, or Denver?

According to Aaron Renn, when it comes to a city’s branding and marketing campaigns, it is.

Renn is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where he writes about urban policies, and he said cities seem to be touting the same generic amenities, rather than those that make them unique.

He joined The Show to talk about what he sees as some of the biggest mistakes cities are making in this area.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
