Arizona Sen. Martha McSally delivered the keynote address today at a National Discussion on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment. In the past year, McSally has come forward with accusations that a track coach sexually abused her when she was in high school, and that a superior officer raped her in the Air Force. McSally was speaking at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis to leaders of colleges, universities and service academies.
“Let’s look at it in a way that tomorrow’s Friday night. It’s not going to happen tomorrow night. We’re going to stop it from happening. Not one more face, not one more victim, not one more person is going to be impacted by this," said McSally.
McSally urged leaders to take meaningful action, not just incremental steps. And she pointed out that of all the colleges invited to the discussion, only 10 percent had representatives in attendance.
