Arizona Bill To Allow Loaded Guns In Cars On School Premises Defeated

In Arizona, adults are allowed to leave unloaded guns inside of cars on school grounds. An effort to change that law was defeated on Thursday in the Arizona Legislature.

The Arizona Senate voted down a bill that would’ve allowed adults to leave loaded guns in their cars on school campuses, too. The House had earlier approved the measure.

Supporters of the proposal say it would reduce the risk of accidental shootings, and opponents say the bill would make schools less safe.

Although the measure was defeated, the bill can be revived — if the opponents can convince one of its supporters to change their original vote.
