After announcing he would not run for the 2020 Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat, Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego is getting involved in the race for the White House.
Gallego is serving as national campaign chair for fellow Rep. Eric Swalwell’s presidential run.
Speaking Sunday at Swalwell’s campaign launch in Dublin, California, Gallego said he and Swalwell had similar paths to Washington, and Swalwell has been active working against President Donald Trump on several House committees.
“He fights when other people are not willing to," Gallego said. "He cares when very few people want to. And let me tell you, he will be that president that we can all truly look up to.”
Gallego said his goal as a campaign director is to raise enough money to get him to the first debate, scheduled for late June.
Swalwell is the 18th Democrat to declare candidacy for president.
