Peoria will get its first circulator bus service on April 22. After free neighborhood circulators in cities like Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, the next city to get on that bus is Peoria.
Peoria-on-the-Go (POGO) is a service in association with Valley Metro to connect people with local businesses, transit centers and high schools.
“POGO, a circulator in the northern part of the area which currently does not have any bus service at all, was also identified in a number of studies dating back to 2011 where this was identified as a corridor in need of transportation services,” said Cathy Colbath, Peoria’s transit manager. She added the service is part of the city’s efforts to improve connectivity and local transportation.
The circulator is funded through the city’s local funds and is expected to serve 18,000 residents.
