When Are Many Choices Too Many Choices?

The Democratic presidential primary field continues to grow — there are currently nearly 20 candidates, with still more who could join. In 2016, the GOP primary had nearly as many candidates running.

Research suggests having too many choices isn’t always great for consumers, but does that apply to politics?

To find out, The Show spoke with psychologist Barry Schwartz. He teaches in the business school at UC Berkeley and is author of the book " The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less"

Schwartz began by explaining that, while it seems intuitive that having a lot of choices would be a good thing, in reality, too many choices can be a bad thing.
