The Arizona Cardinals have the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, which starts Thursday night.
Barring a last-minute trade, the Cardinals are expected to choose Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy-winner Kyler Murray, despite the fact that they drafted quarterback Josh Rosen in the first round last year.
New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury scouted Murray to play for him at Texas Tech and speaks highly of him.
“I don’t know how close he was (to signing), but yeah--I worked really hard at it. He’s a tremendous talent. He’s going to be an NFL quarterback," said Kingsbury.
The Cardinals won’t say for sure if Murray is their choice though, but are reportedly entertaining trade offers for Rosen.
Arizona finished 3-13 in 2018, helping them earn the right to pick first in tonight’s opening round.
