Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Sees Busiest Month Ever

In March, 4,523,220 people got on and off planes at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The overwhelming majority — almost 3.5 million — flew American and Southwest Airlines.

Last month’s passenger count is nearly 145,000 more than March, 2018, which is 3.3 percent higher.

Major League Baseball’s spring training games attract many visitors and spring break travelers also contribute to March being the airport’s busiest month.

A new concourse with eight gates is expected to open at Terminal 4 in 2022. That same year, the PHX Sky Train extension should be finished and will connect passengers to the Rental Car Center.
