ASU Launches Center For Innovation In Healthy And Resilient Aging

Arizona State University wants to redefine how we grow old — so it launched its Center for Innovation in Healthy and Resilient Aging, which aims to tackle some of the challenges facing older adults.

Americans are getting old and Dr. David Coon, the associate dean at Edson College at ASU says we don’t know very much about the oldest among us.

"And we know very little about people over the age of 80 and what their needs are and how to best provide services for them and to not intervene when we don’t need to intervene," said Coon.

So Coon and his colleagues, who come from various backgrounds — including health researchers, the arts, and social and behavioral sciences — are focused on finding ways to enhance and maintain quality of our aging population.

He also says the center will help fill in the gaps between the health care system and the care community.
