Arlene Chin will likely be the new member of the Tempe City Council.
She was chosen to advance after the City Council interviewed three finalists on Thursday.
Current council members will officially vote on the appointment at a regular meeting on May 9, then she’ll be sworn in.
Chin replaces Kolby Granville, the former councilman ousted by the council last month amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Chin is the director of scholarship advancement for the ASU Foundation. She also has a master's degree from Northern Arizona University.
She will be on the Tempe City Council for the remainder of the original Granville term, which expires in July 2020.
