Arizona has c onfidentiality laws in place to protect child-welfare cases, which officials often cite when cases of abuse and neglect make the news.
But in a new investigation, Mary Jo Pitzl of the Arizona Republic said the Arizona Department of Child Safety cherry-picks these laws, releasing information to the public about the children and families in their system sometimes — and refusing to other times.
