CBP Proposes 63 Miles Of Border Fence In Arizona

Customs and Border Protection wants to add 40 miles of new border fence in Pima County and 23 miles in Cochise County.

A large segment of the project involves replacing vehicle barrier put up during the last presidential administration in Arizona’s west desert. That’s the area of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.

Environmental groups criticize that build up in particular because of dangers to endangered animals that live on both sides of the southwest border.

The public has until July 5 to give input.
