Mill Avenue in Tempe, Arizona.

Drivers should expect delays going around one of the more popular streets in downtown Tempe over the summer months.

Mill Avenue is set to be closed northbound between University Drive and Rio Salado Parkway beginning Monday and continuing through August 15. The southbound side will remain open.

The closure will allow construction crews to lay out Tempe’s new Street Car system. Demolition and infrastructure work will take place during the daytime, and track setting and concrete placement work will be done at night.

The closure and construction coincides with many Arizona State University students not being in school for the summer months, when business is typically slower along the avenue.
