NASA has chosen a group of small businesses, including three from Arizona, to receive a second phase of funding.
The program supports innovation research and technology transfer for ideas that could benefit NASA's mission and the U.S. economy.
Last year, NASA selected seven Arizona small businesses to receive Phase I grants under the agency's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Those grants supported evaluating the merit and feasibility of proposed technologies.
Three of those companies have now received Phase II funding to develop, demonstrate and deliver their products.
Tucson's AdValue Photonics received a grant for its tunable single frequency ultraviolet laser, which is useful in detecting atmospheric chemistry.
Paragon Space Development Corporation, also from Tucson, saw support for its Condensate Separator for MIcrogravity Conditions (COSMIC), a device that efficiently separates liquid from air.
Scottsdale's ZONA Technology received funding to develop its aerodynamics modeling software.
