Stories about Timothy Leary, LSD and bad trips have dominated the narrative when most think of psychedelia. But, recently, scientists have been doing a lot more research into whether use of the drugs can help people dealing with mental illness or physical ailments.
Earlier this month, voters in Denver decided to decriminalize the use of psilocybin mushrooms — popularly known as magic mushrooms.
Author Michael Pollan explored the broader topic in his book, " How To Change Your Mind: What The New Science Of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression And Transcendence."
