McSally Introduces Bill To Prevent Sexual Harassment, Assault In Military

Arizona Sen. Martha McSally is leading the charge to prevent sexual harassment and sexual assault in the military.

McSally has introduced legislation aimed at preventing that kind of behavior. She said the bill has four components, including prevention and training, victim support, investigation, and prosecution.

In terms of prosecution, McSally said, "For the first time we are proposing to add in the court martial manual for the Uniform Code of Military Justice a specific offense of sexual harassment."

McSally said when it comes to court-martials, there is what she calls a “catch all” article for offenses that are not covered elsewhere in the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

But she said it’s important to distinguish sexual harassment from other offenses.
