A graveyard of broken plastic sleds is common after the ski season in Flagstaff, but a graduate student at Northern Arizona University is turning these plastics into possibilities.
Praxis Plastics began as Tyler Linner’s thesis for his sustainable communities program and soon turned into a business. Linner said the company’s goal is to make recycling plastic accessible and affordable for small communities.
“I want to produce products and sell products that will reduce the need for new plastic because that plastic comes out of the ground," he said. "You know, they have to have a pipelines, the pipeline spill, and then it poisons people's water and all that stuff, you know, and so I wanted to build the local industry.”
Linner said the company mostly repurposes plastics into clipboards and climbing holds for rockwalls, but is testing out other possible products.
