Arizona Sees Abnormally Low Temperatures For Late May

May in Arizona usually marks the beginning of the state’s blistering summers, but that is not the case so far this year. Jaret Rogers of the National Weather Service said the temperature is more than 20 degrees below the average for Arizona this time of year.

“Very abnormal to have temperatures in late May of 75 degrees, so normal for this time of year is 96 degrees, and our records are generally in the 105 to 110 range,” Rogers said.

Rogers said the cool weather is the result of a strong low pressure system that is also causing a tornado outbreak in the Great Plains.
