A 3.5-mile section of southbound Loop 101 between U.S. 60 and Warner Road will be closed for the weekend starting Friday night. It's part of a construction project that will wrap up in fall 2020.
The section of Loop 101 will close at 10 p.m. tonight and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday. The closure will allow construction workers to set up a work zone along the freeway.
The speed limit within the work zone once completed will be 55 miles per hour. The overall goal of the $76 million project will be to add one lane in each direction along Loop 101 south of Baseline Road.
Crews will also construct retaining walls, safety barriers and make upgrades to sign structures, freeway lighting and landscaping.
