The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League final may not be the biggest event for Arizona sports fans, but watching the match at Fibber Magee’s Irish Pub in Chandler might change your mind.
Fans of the Tottenham Hotspurs F.C. have called this bar their home for four years.
Gavin Bloom is one of the eight original members of the "Arizona Spurs."
“In August of 2014, we met at the FilmBar in downtown Phoenix, fresh off the 2014 World Cup, and we thought it’s time we get something together," Bloom said.
There are now more than 150 members of the club according to Bloom. Its fan page on Facebook has more than 502 likes. This is Tottenham’s first appearance in the UEFA Champions League Final, but years of losing in the ‘90s was worth it for lifelong fan Jack Soutar who grew up in Essex and has lived in Arizona for the last eight years.
“The fact that a team that is literally part of you and part of your blood to get to this level and where they are now is just, it’s goosebumps just talking about it," Soutar said.
Even though Tottenham lost to Liverpool F.C., the voices of the Arizona Spurs fan club will definitely be gone for the next few days.
