After a massive makeover, the former Radisson Hotel in Tucson opens Monday to help ease the city's homeless population.
When the company vacated the 8-acre property in the industrial area of Tucson's south side, it left most of the hotel supplies behind, including the massive kitchen's equipment.
The H.S. Lopez Family Foundation bought the property and then collaborated with the Gospel Rescue Mission and about 25 other local nonprofit groups.
They're investing some $20 million to renovate.
The kitchen can serve up to 3,000 hot meals a day, 51 hotel rooms will house more than 200 people, and the former ballroom will be a 150-bed men's emergency center.
