The Phoenix Art Museum is going to have to find a new director and CEO, as Amada Cruz — who’s been in the position since 2014 — announced that she’ll be moving on to a similar position in Seattle.
Cruz had been credited for putting the museum on more stable financial footing and increasing the diversity of collections and works. Some, however, have been critical of her management style and the dramatic thinning out of the museum’s docent program.
To talk about the announcement and its impact on the Valley’s arts community, The Show spoke with writer Jenna Duncan.
