After Chinese Cultural Center Closure, Asian Businesses Find Home In Mesa

The closure of the Chinese Cultural Center last year created a lot of controversy and, if it made you wonder where you can get a great wonton soup or some novelty Asian desserts now that it’s gone, don’t worry.

There is a burgeoning successor to the Asian-American hub in Mesa.

The business district around Mekong Plaza near the now-defunct Fiesta Mall has grown exponentially in the last decade and it’s now the go-to place for everything from bubble waffles to Korean barbecue.

The Show spoke with Lorraine Longhi with the Arizona Republic about this development.
