Lawmakers Look To Expand Military Training In National Guard Facility Near Tucson

In a show of bipartisan support, members of the Arizona’s congressional delegation have asked the Army to use a National Guard facility 30 miles north of Tucson to expand military training. This would also include training for Apache attack helicopter pilots.

The letter, signed by Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally, as well six members of congress, said expanding the Western Army Aviation Training Site would help provide foreign military sales training. It would also support the training of Army helicopter pilots.

According to the letter, the training requirement for AH-64s is expected to more than double in coming years.
