The Coldwater Fire in northern Arizona continues to burn and is about 30% contained as of Thursday afternoon.
Jessica Richardson with Coldwater Fire Information ssaid there is a temporary closure order in effect for the safety of visitors and firefighters until Sept. 1, at the earliest.
“We anticipate that the fire will be completely done when Mother Nature deems it’s right to be," Richardson said. "So whether that's brought forward by the monsoon, or later in the year possibly by, you know, the winter moisture that comes.”
Traffic remains heavy on Route 87. Meanwhile, firefighters are still working to contain the Woodbury Fire, east of Phoenix, in a remote area in the Superstition wilderness.
