The Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) website has been under construction since an online vulnerability in patient information was found in April.
Medical Center officials said when they learned of a possible security issue, they shut the public website down. Then, the hospital hired a third-party forensic company to investigate.
That investigation showed about 1,100 patients had information like their names, dates of birth and medical condition exposed because of how the website was configured.
KRMC spokeswoman Teri Williams said the website did not expose Social Security numbers or health records.
“It’s not good, but it was limited to 1,100 people, and it was information that they entered when they requested appointments," Williams said.
Williams said the medical center gets about 500,000 visits yearly.
The Center announced this month some patients will receive a letter in the mail if their information was exposed.
Williams said there was no indication of any outside party misusing the vulnerable data.
“We found it, and the fact that we reacted and are taking every precaution, and also the fact that it didn’t affect people’s Social Security numbers or medical records or financial records. I don't want to downplay it, but it isn't like it was a real, major breach like we've seen elsewhere,” Williams said.
There is no timeline on when the KRMC website will be back up.
