Arizona Corporation Commission To Consider Rule Prohibiting Summer Power Shut-Offs

Arizona utility regulators today are expected to consider a proposal that would prohibit utilities from shutting off customers’ power during the summer.

The discussion comes in the wake of the revelation in Phoenix New Times that a Sun City West woman died after her power was cut. She owed around $50 to APS.

Authorities are calling the woman’s death heat-related.

With us now to talk about what this new proposed rule would do is Ryan Randazzo of The Arizona Republic.
