Monsoon Con, an annual gathering of storm chasers, photographers, and other weather enthusiasts and professionals, is moving south after being held in Phoenix the last few years.
The event will take place at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. But despite attendees’ love of storms, conference organizer Lauren Bailey said photographing a storm from your backyard is both safe and thrilling.
“You’re watching the storm go by where you’re kind of enjoying it as a movie," Bailey said. "You’re sitting from afar and watching it almost as if you’re watching a movie from the safety of a nice distance.”
The festival is being held Saturdayfrom 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
