ADOT: Pedestrian Tunnel Near Mariposa Port Of Entry Now Open For 24 Hours

The Arizona Department of Transportation announced Friday that a pedestrian tunnel near the Mariposa port of entry will now be open for 24 hours.

In a statement, ADOT said this 150-yard tunnel was built to keep pedestrians safe from commercial truck traffic after the trucks are inspected by ADOT.

ADOT inspects trucks near where pedestrians arrive in the U.S. after crossing through the Mariposa port of entry.

ADOT also reconfigured fencing to encourage more pedestrians to use the tunnel.
