These 3 Models Could Be The Future Of Police Oversight In Phoenix

After Tuesday night's lengthy meeting, the Phoenix City Council will not officially be going forward — at least not yet — with a civilian oversight board to review actions by police officers.

Meanwhile, many other cities large and small have those kinds of boards. They fall into three categories: investigation-focused, review-focused and an auditor/monitor model.

Liana Perez used to be the independent police auditor for the city of Tucson. She is currently director of operations for the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement. She joined The Show to compare the three models.
