The Pew Research Center has released a report about the 2018 Hispanic population in the U.S. Maricopa County is one of 11 counties with more than 1 million Hispanics.
Miami-Dade County in Florida and Cook County in Illinois are the only two on the list that are not along the Southwest border. Maricopa County ranks fourth on the list with 1.4 million Hispanics — that’s 31% of the population.
Hispanic population grew the most overall in the South, with a 33% growth rate.
But the states with the fastest growth rate have relatively small populations and are not in the South, like North Dakota, whose Hispanic population grew 135% over 10 years. Despite that surge, North Dakota is ranked 49th out of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia for Hispanic population.
