Study: Crime Rates Rise As Temperatures Rise

New research has found that crime in Los Angeles goes up on days when the high temperature is above 85 degrees.

The link between rising mercury and rising crime rates has been known for some time, but this new study finds the relationship is stronger in low-income neighborhoods.

Kilian Heilman is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Southern California’s Institute for New Economic Thinking. He worked on the study and joined The Show to talk more about it.
