Off-track racing will resume at Arizona Downs on July 20.
The track located in Prescott closed only days after celebrating its official grand opening on Memorial Day.
General Manager Ann McGovern said the stumble was due to issues with its off-track betting, or OTB signals.
“Our business plan calls for purse money to be generated through an OTB network," said McGovern. "And we’ve had difficulty since we started obtaining some of the racing signals necessary to make that OTB network successful."
The track has since secured an investor who will provide funding to keep Arizona Downs operating through Labor Day weekend.
McGovern suspects the track’s affordability and secure set up will attract California equestrians who have recently experienced a series of track deaths at the Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles.
