Advocacy Attorney Discusses Reports Of Migrant Children Abused At Detention Facility

More details about disturbing allegations involving children at a Arizona immigration detention facility.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is investigating claims of abuse of migrant children that is alleged to go beyond mistreatment.

In a story  uncovered by NBC News last week, a 15-year-old girl from Honduras reported that an immigration officer at a Yuma detention facility allegedly groped her in front of other officers.

The report also included migrant children reporting retaliation by officers being forced to sleep on concrete and being insulted by agents.

“These cases are horrifying to us, but unfortunately they are not coming as a surprise. I can tell you that they’re very consistent with what our clients who have been held in CBP custody have told us over and over again," said Laura Belous, advocacy attorney with the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, which represents migrant children after they have been released from Border Patrol custody.

She spoke more about this with The Show.
