Will Changes To The Arizona Election Process Make Things Easier In 2020?

During the 2016 election cycle, Arizonans saw hours-long lines outside polling stations for the spring primary, images that were broadcast around the world, leading to embarrassment and, more importantly, concerns about the fairness and efficiency of the state's voting process.

The 2018 cycle saw improvements, but there were still problems with polling stations opening late and ballots being counted slowly.

Maricopa County has moved to improve the overall situation, committing millions to better technology and increases in staff. Along with that, the Board of Supervisors will be working much more closely with County Recorder Adrian Fontes.

The Show spoke with Bill Gates, the chair of the Board of Supervisors, about what they plan to do for the upcoming election.

The Show also spoke with County Recorder Adrian Fontes to find out how the changes may affect his duties.
